Today, although the main trend around the world is to work in shared offices, it is possible to come across many employees who want to commute and leave office routines in more and more companies. Working remotely, mostly from home, has become a much easier and more viable option for many. However, this method is not as easy as it seems.

You ask why?

Although the ability to work from home seems to give employees a serious productivity advantage, it will often bring with it distraction or difficulty focusing.

Therefore, in this article, I will include tips that you can use to be disciplined while working in an environment away from the office or at home.

While many companies now allow their employees to work from home, it is imperative that companies make wise decisions to avoid this possibility, taking into account the productivity drop that may arise as a result of this work - because working from home is not everyone's pay.

I've been doing this for almost 10 years now, and to be honest I can't imagine going back to a traditional office environment anymore.

But unfortunately, when you become your own boss when it comes to time management, it can be a matter of time before you get distracted. Since no one can limit your productivity to a specific time zone when you work remotely, it is only your, but only your, responsibility to ensure that everything you do is done immediately and in high quality. This comes with some productivity dangers.

So, what can you do to stay disciplined, to have a stress-free working life or to protect your productivity while working in your homes, where you feel most comfortable?

I will tell you about a few applications that have been proven to work by me in my own life.

1- Create a program.

Some people think that having the ability to change daily routines is one of the most impressive advantages of working from home, that being able to easily go to a dentist appointment in the middle of the day, or to be able to go to the grocery store and buy milk when you notice that there is no milk at home is really cool. However, I realized that contrary to this general belief, it is a much more functional method to prepare a very rigorous work schedule and try to stick to it no matter what.

For this reason, I get up at the same time every morning, and usually go to bed at 10:00 every night, including weekends.
First thing in the morning, I take my dog for a walk. Then I go to the gym for an hour and come home to cook. I will start working until 11:00. I don't take a lunch break, but I would do something much more valuable to me.

2- Take a break every hour and leave your desk.

The productivity and health benefits of getting up from your desk at regular intervals and taking a break from your work are great, and I definitely do this every hour. This short break from my desk allows me to relax and accelerate my blood flow, while on the other hand, it allows me to grab a cup of coffee that will help me to regain my dissipated concentration and continue my work with a refreshed mind.

In addition, I take care to drink about 4 liters of water a day, which often causes the need to go to the toilet every hour, so I can work without tiring myself.

3- Watch ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) videos on YouTube.

I know it sounds crazy, but the autonomous sensory meridian response - a phenomenon better known as ASMR - has done wonders at my level of productivity. ASMR is the name given to excessively relaxing sound signals produced by certain triggers that differ from person to person. These sounds may consist of scratching, clicking, grimacing or just whispering various objects. But I can assure you that they are great at increasing your productivity.

This method not only helps me come to my rescue and sleep at night, especially when I have trouble resting, but it also takes me to the peak of my productivity during the day.

Although there is no scientific explanation of the truth behind the scenes of ASMR, it is obvious that it is a highly functional method.

4- Eat a healthy diet.

A healthy diet not only helps you maintain your ideal weight, but also helps increase your ability to focus and increase your energy. The definition of "healthy eating" may be different for everyone, but in my opinion, healthy eating means a diet where I eat lots of fresh vegetables, a moderate amount of protein and foods high in healthy fats but low in carbohydrates and sugar.

5- In case you are working on an urgent project, close your e-mail account.

My inbox is flooded with e-mails throughout the day. 99% of them are spam messages. It consists of spam messages from a rights relations agency or possibly some emails I deleted without reading. In other words, most of my emails are trivial and definitely not time sensitive.

I completely shut down my email accounts while working on writing or editing an important article or document. Otherwise, it is only a matter of time before I click on the links in the incoming e-mails and lose myself in this virtual world, like an obscure rabbit hole.

6- Look for ways to relax yourself.

While striving to work at a pace to meet deadlines and do a high-quality job, I also do not neglect to improve my skills in determining the way I work and the time required to complete certain jobs. This means that sometimes I can create a few hours of time to take care of what I need to do and take time to relax.

Actually, I am talking about going to the jogging market and coming to the market that I mentioned at the beginning of our article. Moreover, this allows me to connect with real people by eliminating the possible side effects of being away from social environments, which is one of the disadvantages of working from home. Sometimes, even by chance, I suddenly find myself baking a huge tray of cookies. Ultimately, I know how soon I will complete the work that needs to be done. When you know this fact, it is not worth it to break yourself and break a sweat of death, is it?

7- The secret is that you can manage your time well.

Structure your time clearly. Because working remotely / from home is closely related to being able to manage time properly. Completing your work is important not only for getting paid, but also because it allows you to make the most of your "unplanned" free time for that day. These are precisely those moments of precious time in which you make unexpected discoveries. Give yourself a certain amount of time that you will spend without doing anything. In this way, you can come up with some ideas that might not have been revealed otherwise. Remember, leisure carries the potential to have high productivity.

8- Avoid working in your pajamas.

We get it, it can be extremely tempting to wear your pajamas when you're home, but please get dressed. You may be working from home, but the truth is that work is still work and it takes some seriousness. For a productive work day, wake up early and prepare for the new day in the same way you normally do before going to work. Take a shower. Get dressed. Have breakfast. Come to yourself. Were you using a cologne that made you feel energetic and awake without going to the office? Use it again. Even if you are not going to have any video calls during the day, pretend to be with your colleagues.

9- Determine your limits.

The fact that you are at home does not mean that you will be absolutely suitable for dealing with the household. Of course you can love your dog and take care of your children or your partner. Of course you can help with some household things since you are already there. Of course, you can have small talk, but you must remember the fact that your home is also your workplace. The harder you draw your boundaries, the more productive you will have a day. You need to make sure that everyone around you understands that you are working and that you need certain conditions to do this.

10- Communicate frequently.

Inform your colleagues, bosses, customers and employees about what you are doing. Stay on track. Reply to your emails regularly. Don't keep people waiting. When it comes to working remotely / from home, your key point should be to communicate with people in a timely and correct manner. You can add Google Hangouts, Skype, WhatsApp etc. to your laptop, desktop or mobile phone. Be sure to install communication tools - even if you are using these tools to express that you are not only currently at your desk, but will soon take over your business.
