Curiosity Is Very Important In Entrepreneurship
We are constantly moving forward, producing new things, opening new doors. Because we are curious people and curiosity opens new doors for us.
Your knowledge as an entrepreneur must be high. You need to be knowledgeable in many areas of marketing, planning, networking, product development, advertising and life. If you are working alone, that is, if there is no specialized team behind you, the only thing that will lead you to success is your equipment and your sense of curiosity. What distinguishes you from ordinary people is not that you are smart, determined, flexible; is your curiosity.
Curiosity is a feature gained by trying to understand even everyday things, by questioning and asking questions. People who realize that lifelong learning is not over, we are surprised today: "How did it not come to my mind?" They are the people behind the brilliant products and ideas we call.
Walt Disney says:
“We are constantly moving forward, producing new things, opening new doors. Because we are curious people and curiosity opens new doors for us.
But how to develop a sense of wonder? Why is curiosity so important? We will try to answer these questions in our article.
1. Curiosity Helps You Leave the Pack
An entrepreneur has to be curious to understand the world. There are countless events and phenomena in the world. However, only people who look around with prying eyes can see that some things are wrong, that some things need improvement. Anyway, entrepreneurship is almost like that. Entrepreneurial person looks at the events around him and puts a product or service thinking that there is a better alternative. It is necessary to be curious in order to offer solutions to problems and to approach problems from different angles.
If you are curious, enthusiastic, and watchful looking around, this mentality gives you new ideas. A sense of curiosity shows you the existence of new and fresh possibilities. In other words, a curious person does not just look at events as they appear, but also tries to understand behind the scenes.
2. Curiosity Helps You Ask the Right Questions
Finding solutions to problems is one thing, recognizing a problem that was not noticed before is one thing… So how can you realize something that you did not notice before? Curiosity will open new doors for you.
Curiosity allows you to ask questions and seek answers. These answers also help you understand the world better and find solutions to problems you could not realize before.
Nobody can fully control everything around him. Already a curious person is aware of this. He tries to increase his knowledge and sensitivity with a humble and clear mind. This effort offers great opportunities in entrepreneurship and in all areas of life.
3. Curiosity Reduces Fear of Failure
A person who knows how to take big risks to achieve big things is called an “entrepreneur”… Big risks can naturally conceive great failures, but an entrepreneur looks at the issue in terms of ways to achieve success. If the attempt fails, it is not the end of the world. A true entrepreneur learns from his mistakes and looks to the future rather than sticking to the past. This strengthens his hand against uncertainties and improves his adaptability.
Developing a sense of curiosity is one of the most important qualities an entrepreneur can have against fear of failure. Being curious allows you to be prepared for unexpected situations, positive or negative.
In summary, a curious person does not give up when he fails. It sees this failure as the starting point for new ideas, new discoveries, new things to learn.
4. Curiosity Boosts Productivity
Why do you do the things you do the way you do now?
Have you asked yourself this question before?
A person without a sense of curiosity asked this question, "Because that's how I learned." will give the answer. However, a curious person is not satisfied with this answer. Because curiosity leads one to analyze what he does and why.
A curious person asks himself the following questions about his work?
What's the point of what I'm doing?
What other way can I do this?
Is there an easier and more efficient way to do this?
What are the things I need to complete this?
Entrepreneurial person's time is very valuable. Therefore, he has to know what, how and why he is doing his work. At this point, the feeling of curiosity gives the person consciousness. A person who knows what and why works more productively and more efficiently.
5. Curiosity Makes You Love What You Do
Loving your job both increases your success and ensures your satisfaction in business life. A curious person constantly learns new things, meets new people, and gains new experiences. These prevent him from getting bored, overwhelmed and tired in business and social life.
Curiosity enables a person to do his job passionately and radiate positive energy around him.
How can you cultivate curiosity?
There are some things you can do to keep the "learner for life" alive and look around you with more curious eyes.
1. Do Things You Don't Do
To get out of your daily routine, do things you didn't have the opportunity to do before. Take up a new hobby, enroll in a French course, read a book you haven't read before, try to talk about a topic with people you don't know. In other words, create little adventures for yourself. Account for what you learned from these adventures.
To get started right away, take a blank sheet of paper and cut the paper in half. Write your daily habits on the left.
Waking up at 8 am
Making coffee as soon as you wake up
Surfing social media while drinking coffee
Then write the opposite of your daily habits on the right side of the paper.
Waking up at 5 am
Going straight to the shower when waking up
Reading a book for half an hour after showering
The purpose of this exercise is to stimulate your creativity by trying things you have never given a chance to before. Because such a change will fuel your curiosity.
2. Ask Powerful Questions
Ask yourself firm and sincere questions. Questions make you think more than answers. A solid question can cause you to question what you have done, to tidy up your life, so to speak.
Also, make sure that the questions you ask are open-ended.
Why is this so?
How can I make this better?
So the questions you will ask should be able to brainstorm you.
3. Expand Your Horizons
For some reason, we involuntarily allow the events we experience to limit our thinking. The Hopi people live in arid regions of Arizona. Therefore, there is only one word for "snow" in their language. On the other hand, there are many different words for "snow" in the language of the Inuit living in Alaska. So one of the Hopi people will have a hard time living in Alaska because they only have one word for snow.
What we want to point out here is that our beliefs are built by external variables. For this reason, it is not easy to break down the intellectual walls and have different thinking structures.
In order to achieve this, it is necessary to analyze the contrasts between old and new, past and present.
Every entrepreneur must have a sense of curiosity. If this were not the case, starting a new business or designing a new product would not be so attractive. However, the sense of curiosity can also become dull over time. Therefore, you can keep your curiosity alive by applying the exercises mentioned above.
